The looming mountains of Italy's Villabassa set the scene this July for the most challenging of annual mountain bike events, the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships. The ultimate test of strength and endurance, competitors struggle through 119.9 kms (Men) and 88.6 kms (Women) of rugged terrain for a chance to take home the rainbow Championship jersey. It was a clean sweep for the Swiss at Verviers last year, with Petra Henzi and Christoph Sauser shooting to victory in both men's and women's classes.
