- MondoMan, on 01/30/2008, -1/+39I use Transmission mostly because of it's amazingly simple interface. Azureus is more of a power app to me, I wanted the bare essentials so Transmission was a great choice.

Your whole argument is unsupported by any evidence, and in response to your question; you are misinformed about the average mac user. Not everyone has the time or desire to be an ***** power-user like yourself, so they will pay for a convenient machine that is easy to learn and deal with. Not to mention, people who don't sit at at home and try to add meaning to their life by trying to dominate forums with illogical unfounded comments may actually have friends (do I need to explain what friends are) and an image, and believe it or not people are willing to pay for their image. As for quality of components. I have never had problems with my mac, nor has any other mac user I have known. Also, for every mac sold there are ten PC's sold with lower quality components (Dell? eMachines?). So how about you go sit on it and rotate, and when you are done with that, you should go try to make a friend or two and do something nice for them to add meaning to your useless existence.

They like that I have an against the grain approach, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO CORPORATE AMERICA. YOU MAC DOUCHEBAGS LIKE TO THINK YOU'RE PART OF SOME iCOMMUNITY. That is why YOU SUCK. That's why many of us think you're smug and rather idiotic, you're a bright shining corporate American loser.
Fact: You pay too much for your computer, just for the privilege of joining an Elitist group of assholes.
Fact: If built or bought correctly, A PC WILL LAST JUST AS LONG or LONGER than a comparable Mac FOR HALF THE PRICE. Get it through your thick head, because that's a fact.
Fact: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=ma ...
Fact: Mac users don't care how much they blow on their computer, it is a vanity piece.
Fact: Mac users don't get many open source applications afforded to the "Lower Class" PC user.
Fact: The Mac user is a FANBOY. His purchase just entered him/ her into the CORPORATE ***** community.
So, yeah, YOU SUCK. Don't attack me personally, I'M JUST ANOTHER PC USER WHO IS TIRED OF HEARING WINDOWS COMPARED TO APPLE. WINDOWS = OS (OKAY, DO YOU F'ING UNDERSTAND THIS???????????!!!!!!!!!! GOOD!!!!), APPLE = BOXED PIECE OF ***** HARDWARE. I'll say it again. WINDOWS = OS.................APPLE = JUNK FROM A BOX. So drill that in to your memory good, k?
Now ***** OFF, and quit harassing my character. It's simply plain to see you have none. - JMulert, on 01/31/2008, -1/+0First off, after this post I am not going to continue this useless argument. Secondly, the only reason you were personally attacked is because you attacked me with comments like "loser," and "mac retards." Also, I have never once stated that the PC as a whole was inferior to a Mac. I own a PC in addition to my mac and I run linux and windows on it, and yes it was much cheaper than a Mac, however, I didn't buy my mac because to join an Elitist group of assholes. I bought my mac because I grew up on macs and it is a company that I trust and am comfortable with. As far as your second "fact," I never said that PC's couldn't be great machines, and while there are some awesome machines out there, it doesn't deny the fact that there are plenty of companies making crap PC's. Regarding that web page, it is complete crap. I don't see you trying ending this argument by simply shutting up ( maybe I will be lucky enough for you to prove me wrong). Then you go on to say "The Mac user is a FANBOY." I would just like to point out that while you have been parading the fact that you think PC's are far superior to macs, I, owner of a mac, have not been arguing mac's superiority, but rather arguing that you are unnecessarily aggressive and insulting. I never once spoke poorly of windows, nor did I compare it to an apple. Also, If you are trying to escape corporate America, good luck. One final note, I am not trying to tell you that a PC sucks because it doesn't, all I am trying to tell you is chill the hell out man! Its just a computer.

- NinjaJoey, on 01/31/2008, -2/+4Actually, I counted 14. Anyway, it's often easier to download from public trackers, since I don't have to worry about my ratio.

- illegalcortex, on 01/31/2008, -0/+3I can't speak to both, but I know Ted occasionally makes me cranky with missed episodes. There are some shows that I've simply had to set up as RSS feeds in uTorrent instead.

- digitallysick, on 01/30/2008, -1/+12My fav on linux was ktorrent, even though they have azureus for linux i always found it to be buggy. Ktorrent reminds me of utorrent, i recommend it for all linux users.
- ours, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1KTorrent is real cool. It even has an IP blocker plugin that can use bluestack's IP list (in Peerguardian format). General UI is not as clean as uTorrnet but pretty close but just as powerful.
- enterneo, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Ktorrent is qt based, does not look good on GNOME
- djbon2112, on 01/30/2008, -5/+16Hrm, they failed to mention that uTorrent runs flawlessly in WINE. Otherwise, very good.
- skyshock1, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7Um, no. I've had it running under WINE occasionally, but now there's an issue where the GUI doesn't show up even though the process is shown as running when running $ ps aux. When it DOES show up, it's fantastic, but it's not flawless yet.
- JulioChavez, on 01/31/2008, -1/+2Why the ***** would you run a bittorrent app under WINE ?
- skyshock1, on 01/31/2008, -1/+3Because there's no bit torrent client written natively for Linux that is as good as uTorrent yet? Also, why the ***** not?
- djbon2112, on 02/01/2008, -0/+1Because uTorrent is simply the best Bittorrent app out there? It's got all the functionality you need, in a sleek layout which is very light on system resources (even under WINE). The only bad thing about it (aside from it being freeware and not FOSS) is that it's "only" for Windows.
- djbon2112, on 02/01/2008, -0/+1Which version of WINE, and which version of uTorrent? All the recent releases of both are very compatible, with a small GUI issue and nothing more, which itself is fixed by running the app in "Windows Vista" mode.
- JulioChavez, on 01/31/2008, -1/+2Why the ***** would you run a bittorrent app under WINE ?
- willr001, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1someone mentioned it in the comments there, and someone was bitching in the comments about torrents slowing their internet down. If i had an account there i'd have told them abouth QoS settings (hopefully) in their router, but i guess they'll have to suffer

- greenlight2001, on 01/31/2008, -3/+5What are people's thoughts on using the newer versions of utorrent past v1.6? There was some rabbling about the company who bought it and the newer versions being released having potential spyware/privacy issues? I still run 1.6.

- lump1, on 01/31/2008, -0/+2I've been letting mine auto-install updates, so far everything is working well. Honestly, I can't name one difference that I've noticed since version 1.6. Most of the fixes have to do with internal things and not things that appear in the UI.
I think that the uTorrent team knows that filesharers will not tolerate ***** and will run like hell from any product that even reminds us of spyware or adware. Luckily, there are many good torrent clients to flee to if uTorrent becomes poisoned.

- LemonChicken, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1I'm behind a proxy server, anybody know how to get through it?
- Ghiren, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1Get through it, no. Get around it, yes.
Even if the proxy server doesn't keep logs of who uses it, traffic analysis can still read packets going in and packets going out, then determine where the outgoing packet is headed. Of course, with lots of traffic going in and out of the proxy server for multiple users, "needle in a haystack" is an understatement, but it's still theoretically possible. Now if the outgoing packets were encrypted (like with TOR), then there's nothing to match the incoming packets to. - Zaggynl, on 01/31/2008, -0/+2You could tunnel your traffic to your home PC via ssh:

- willr001, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1at my old work (at a university) we would end up getting our interwebs cut off if we were torrenting, cuz an unthrottled upload would hit like 5MB/s (thats B not b).
