*I will be dugg down for posting anti-obama comment. Selecting a giant douche over a turd sandwich doesn't refrain the giant douche from being a ...giant douche. Post your argument if you are not a pussy!- Fordi, on 05/21/2008, -1/+11Valid arguments are generally only made in response to valid arguments. You made none, so you'll get none in reply.
- ThickGreenPuke, on 05/21/2008, -1/+1Ok...Obama doesn't have any policies that will really change the status quo. Just because he is better than Hilary doesn't make him an ideal candidate. What actions is he taking to with the Federal Reserve printing so much money? What about his foreign policy? Is he going to close all the US military bases around the world or continue their funding? If somebody is voting for him just because he is black, than they are the ones who are racist.
- Fordi, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1Reducing lobby influence on government is the first effective means of ending the Fed.
You have to understand, the Fed's been here since the '20s. A lot of the legislation since then has served to reinforce the US's artificial dependancy on the Fed, or to otherwise bolster the Fed's legitimacy. Much to most of that needs to be rolled back before we can remove the world's biggest profit sink.
Meanwhile, that can't be achieved while the banking lobby still holds sway over Congress - even if Ron Paul were president. Too much money to bribe with. So, reducing the ability of private firms to lobby is the first step. Eliminating it is the second. The remaining steps become easier after that. - ThickGreenPuke, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1I am not sure about the nitty gritty procedure for abolishing the Federal Reserve, but I think the Reserve Act must be declared unconstitutional first by the Supreme Court. A presidential candidate must be proactive in this. Obama on the other hand is a member of CFR whose aim is to expand this type of reserve system to other countries. Now if Ron Paul were to be elected (hypothetically), I don't expect the Federal Reserve to be abolished on day one of his Presidency but it will sure set the wheels in motion. Why are people so oblivious to the fact that letting some privately owned company control the money supply of the whole nation is one of the worst things that could ever happen to the nation.
- Fordi, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1"Obama ... is a member of CFR whose aim is to expand this type of reserve system to other countries"
You seem to think these two things are mutually inclusive.
"Why are people so oblivious to the fact that letting some privately owned company control the money supply of the whole nation is one of the worst things that could ever happen to the nation?"
Because it's not. Nuclear war is. The effective drug of a fractional reserve system is merely second best.
Anyway, we could go cold turkey, as you suggest - but the US would basically self-destruct internally. I prefer to play the reverse of the long game that got us here in the first place; we do have enough time, despite the doomsayers.

- KLBP, on 05/21/2008, -4/+51If Clinton has as much support as Obama, why is she $30 million in debt and raising so much less money from so many fewer people than Obama? It isn't like Obama is being bankrolled by fat cats since 93% of the almost 3 million donations to Obama's campaign were for $100 or less.
- wendelgee2, on 05/21/2008, -5/+4Because a lot of her supporters either aren't net-savvy, or simply don't have any money. Most affluent progressives are Obama folks.

- altgeeky1, on 05/21/2008, -1/+4Clinton does have a lot of Support, but she went after "institutional" Democrats... the traditional year to year givers. These people always give to whoever has the early momentum and who has the support of the party "establishment". These people tend to give the max amount allowed by law, and then they're used up. They also tend to be older, retired, not so good with computers and 'networking', and tend NOT to volunteer to causes (except for signing checks). This is Clinton's fault and it's the party's weakness in the sense that there's a huge disconnect between the party regulars and younger folk.
Obama realized all this and built his OWN network -- real volunteers who can build a money factory even if they don't have the money themselves. This is nothing short of an OVERTHROW of the Democratic Party, in some ways it's similar to the mid 90's takeover of the GOP (where Newt and the Neocons built a movement, then put the old GOP guard, like the Orin Hatches etc out to pasture).
Clinton has supporters the way that people keep voting for Huckabee... they might vote for her as a statement but won't give any money (if there WERE any Clinton supporters who weren't already tapped out on contributions).
Someone will write a good book on Obama fundraising. Like him or not, this will be a textbook every politician of either party will study. He did this by going straight to the people and getting $20 bills, not using Amrahmoff or corporate fund raising.
Clinton's debt is being used to reward her staff with lavish entertainment, and she's basically threatening to spend MORE unless she's paid off from the Obama camp. She's made 110 mil in the last 10 years, and this was her bet to lose. I say Obama doesn't deserve to have to pay her off. I made two $60 contributions to Obama this year, but I'm holding off until he comes out and says clearly he will NOT pay off her campaign debt. I don't want my money going to her.- KLBP, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1It should make you feel better to know that it has been posted here on Digg several times that campaign finance law prohibits Obama from using the funds he raised for his campaign to pay off Clinton's debt. The most he could do is ask his donors to contribute to Clinton directly and to help her hold fund raisers.
- altgeeky1, on 05/23/2008, -0/+1Thanks.. that IS pretty good to know.
I had read several things before that suggested (stated?) that campaign money can be shifted to other candidates (or at least into PACs... really what the Hill wants now is to have enough money to re-secure her Senate seat)
- altgeeky1, on 05/21/2008, -1/+4Clinton does have a lot of Support, but she went after "institutional" Democrats... the traditional year to year givers. - MOJIRA, on 05/21/2008, -0/+3Because Obama supporters actually care about the country, Clinton supporters only care about themselves (and if they actually knew who'd be better for them as a president they wouldn't for for her, but they don't know any better). Think about it, it's so true.

- pablo0713, on 05/21/2008, -5/+41So now Clinton is crying sexism. Boy, she will use every trick in the book. Nobody is out there saying, "I won't vote for Hillary because she is a woman." However, as seen in both WV and Kentucky, there are plenty of white people who won't vote for Obama because he is black. Racism trumps sexism. A white woman is still white at the end of the day and no matter how much women have been "discriminated" against in this world, white women have had the least to complain about. Hillary says sexism is being used against her. But, boy, will she use sexism when it suits her. Her comment she made when referencing a "she" as to who will be the next president is extremely sexist. Hypocrisy, indeed.
- Chirp08, on 05/21/2008, -4/+10Honestly, if she is crying sexism that makes me not want to vote for her because she is being a stereotypical feminist bitch.
No matter how you look at it, she is making excuses instead of overcoming her problems to succeed. Obama never made excuses, he never had to, he told us his reasons and let us decide for ourselves, and it worked, because he treated everyone like adults. - ouzome, on 05/21/2008, -5/+1This just proves that Democrats are racist and sexist.
- runCMD, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1you are right. I haven't heard anyone saying they won't vote for Hillary because she's a woman. I have heard black people at work saying they are voting for Obama because he's black. Bigotry lives in the Obama camp.

And for Obama to claim this is totally misleading as he has received tons of money from employees of PACS and lobbysits. Plus he took his 4.4 MILLION of PAC money (well after he said he no longer took money from PACs) and RECENTLY starting handing the PAC money out left and right to Democrats who ended up supporting him.
"According to Federal Election Commission records, other significant Obama PAC donations in the last two years came from AT&T, Lockheed Martin, Comcast, and Walt Disney. - schizerbone, on 05/21/2008, -0/+2I'm sick of articles like this. I'm an Obama supporter, but I don't need a daily report on his financial info. I bet tomorrow there will be another article updating this one with a new figure. Bah.
- Trails123, on 05/21/2008, -2/+0Hillary's debt is rising almost as fast as Obama's War Chest!

- Azulita360, on 05/21/2008, -0/+2I will be very angry of any of my money goes to pay off the sleazy Clintons.
Everytime the DNC asks me for money I write back that I will not give them a dime until Billery steps down. Yes the Obama camp has bent over backwards to be gracious to her and her supporters...I wish we would have taken her out early with all the mud that never hit the main stage. - Zacktopia, on 05/27/2008, -0/+1More will be needed to win the general election - at least 20 times more than the total contributed to him so far.
