- OpCzar, on 04/12/2008, -21/+3It's not only sped up, the movie skips frames.
- mnetlucas, on 04/12/2008, -1/+14Did you just say it is sped up? You have obviously never played speed chess, that is about an average speed for a 1 minute game.
- Jenadae, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1L2Youtube
- oneoverzero, on 04/12/2008, -0/+4These are the two top chess players in the nation.
It's not sped up. - bsmang, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3I doubt sped up, but definitely youtube quality. (Not complaining though, it's all I can afford bandwidth-wise anyway.)
- MikeonTV, on 04/12/2008, -4/+4Damn it! who won?
- vanguardanon, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3At first I thought the right guy was winning. Then he seemed to be moving out of check a few times. Then it was over, the left guy won.
- alefox, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2right= dlugy
left= nakamura

- dzverbg, on 04/12/2008, -6/+1Nakamura won by taking the king. Blunder.
- Fand, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2he took a knight. so he was up a good amount of material
- KingGorilla, on 04/12/2008, -2/+2Aren't all chess games won by taking the king?
- NewPatriot, on 04/12/2008, -3/+2"do you see it bobby"

- Peko, on 04/12/2008, -1/+1you wanna piece of me?
- Xirus08, on 04/12/2008, -19/+0That was rather sad.... why speed up a video, when you can just make one up yourself with the same quality...
- oneoverzero, on 04/12/2008, -0/+15I said it above, but these are the two top speed chess players in the nation. It's not just a video of a chess tournament that someone sped up afterwards, they really are that fast.
- shownoregrets, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3you, sir, are an idiot.
- Jenadae, on 04/12/2008, -0/+5Interesting how the first 30 or so seconds they seem to have almost the same piece arrangement.
- superfuxxorr, on 04/12/2008, -5/+5Competive level chess is nothing more than memorization and sweater vests.
- chrisaug18, on 04/12/2008, -3/+6It's alot more than that..but you seem too dense grasp it so i am not even going to try
- superfuxxorr, on 04/12/2008, -3/+3ORLY?

- OaklandMatt, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5I'm most impressed by the percentage of moves that they don't seem to re-think after their opponent plays. I don't know if they are anticipating most of their opponent's moves, or if there is such little time that they just have to constantly be attacking. It's the first time I've seen chess be so aggressive. Pretty awesome...
- terryhuang, on 04/12/2008, -10/+2photoshopped!

- JointheArmy, on 04/12/2008, -0/+51Just some background on this and chess itself.
First of all it's not a "blitz" game. 1 minute is considered a bullet game and 3 minutes is considered blitz. Bullet and blitz are practically the only time controls people use when they play on the internet. Less risk for cheaters -- people who use computer engines during the game.
Nakamura dominates just about every GM on ICC (Smallville) and playchess.com (StarWars) .
http://www.cs.utu.fi/~juhkivij/chess/icc_best_en.s ...
He plays even faster online because of an option called premove. It allows you to select an infinite amount of moves (only one move if it's on ICC) ahead of time before your opponent even moves. This is useful for say captures, forced moves, the opening, or when you just feel lucky.
The only players who give Nakamura trouble in blitz are Trudodyr (Alexander Morozevich #3 in the world) and the mysterious "Raffael" who about 90 percent of kibitzers think is Kasparov. Holger Lieske -- the playchess.com admin -- did confirm Raffael was in the top 10 in the world (classical chess).
Dlugy actually went to prison for money embezzlement or something like that.
http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=281 ...
He is no slouch in blitz, but no where near the level of Kramnik, Anand, or Morozevich.
Anyone who says this is sped up is an idiot. Visit playchess.com and see how fast these guys move with a mouse.- JointheArmy, on 04/12/2008, -0/+8***** it seems Digg cut off the second link so now it takes you some ***** about Chess Tiger. Anyways google "Dlugy prison" to see what I'm talking about.
- Neoanarchist, on 04/12/2008, -0/+12Awesome background info man, thanks for the informed post.
- bicyclethief, on 04/12/2008, -0/+5I want to see Nakamura and Magnus Carlsen invited to the same tournament.
- alefox, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2That would be insane, but who would win??? My bets would go slightly more to Carlsen on that one
- sassafras1232, on 04/12/2008, -1/+1Me, I want to see Nakamura and Magnus Ver Magnusson invited to the same tournament...Play a game of chess while holding up a 100lb rock. Whoever drops the rock or loses the chess game looses!
- Mako640, on 04/12/2008, -0/+4Here's a couple more clips of Nakamura.
Akobian vs. Nakamura: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZo8O-p9qy4
Svenderlunk (amateur) vs. Nakamura: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcnJ2moP-K0 (Nakamura got 10 seconds for the whole game) - user23490, on 04/12/2008, -0/+6Wow!!
That Nakamura guy looks like he can bend time and space...- FaithclubDotNet, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2I'm not going to watch this because everyone knows Hiro will lose turn two because of cheating. There is no 1 move checkmate in chess, no matter how much he rearranges the board.
- UnterDenLinden, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2Nakamura can do 300 moves a minute online, with pre-moving. That is crazy.
- Fand, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1ICC I think takes 0.3 seconds a move even if you pre move. That would be 200 moves.
- chesstwin, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1you can turn animations off... so its effectively 0
- Fand, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1ICC I think takes 0.3 seconds a move even if you pre move. That would be 200 moves.
- Noureddin, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5"sped up, sped up, sped up, sped up!!!"
Morons... You can tell thats its not "Sped up"... At countless parts you can tell(i.e guy drinking beer and bottle is going normal speed)that its not sped up...
Good match though. Seesh they are fast. See... If people knew chess they would know if you go THIS fast at chess you are not just skillful... But, Also VERY smart. Its takes brains to do this game! - chanop, on 04/12/2008, -5/+2IN THE BUTT!!!!!!!!!!!
- notclaude, on 04/12/2008, -0/+7Needs Benny Hill music.
- br0wnstar, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2Am I the only person to read "maxim" and click, only to be very confused/disappointed?
- Fand, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1For those who don't know, Nakamura (on the left) is possibly the best speed chess player in the world, easily in the top 5.
- TheShom, on 04/12/2008, -3/+1Dammit i thought I saw Hiro Nakamura.
He could just go back in time and own Dugly if he wanted
This isn't the first time Dugly got owned http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOU8GIRUd_g - gene1102, on 04/12/2008, -0/+7I'm grandmaster at hungry hungry hippos.
- morninglorii, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2Hahaha I laughed so hard
- V01dV01cg, on 04/12/2008, -1/+0They're not really thinking about it right ? It's just precompiled reflexes learned through years of experience isn't it ?
- mellaart, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1Simply cool!
- zhivkoyankov, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1Blitz is not my favorite game. By the way World N3 is not Morozovich (but it is different discussion). Nobody here mention anything about Veselin Topalov, who is one of the best players in Blitz and classic chess now.
- VVCephei, on 04/12/2008, -0/+0He cheats. He stops time, thinks about his move, Resumes time and then makes his move.
Case Solved. - jamesvaughn, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1This is actually no big deal. Hang out in Washington Square Park and see former prisoners doing the same thing, even faster toward the end, for $. I am not as good as these guys, but they have devoted their lives to it.
- Fand, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1the guys in this video are way better than anyone in Washington Square Park.
