Bush asks for $6 billion to fight the terrorists online
valleywag.com — Here's a hint: Don't run a nuclear plant on Microsoft Windows

- iraq, on 01/30/2008, -5/+56I'm toast.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 01/30/2008, -0/+5Perhaps they can fight the "blog terror" on digg, so that they do not have to fight it over here.
This will probably result in more bloggers, given other, previous "successes." - FutureGuy, on 01/30/2008, -0/+7Ohh sure that's also Microsoft's fault. Didn't scientology's site just get ripped, sure they run Windows, ohh wait looks like its Linux
http://toolbar.netcraft.com/site_report?url=http:/ ...- Rhino2, on 01/31/2008, -15/+1haha, dude! They are running windows, they just spoof their HTTP return headers so it says linux. They do that to fool the haxors. Linux is teh unbreakable. Teh Linux has never been hacked! Not unlike your mom's ass.
- voyvf, on 01/31/2008, -0/+5Pro tip: A moronic sysadmin/programmer/IT staff can ruin any OS's security, be it Windows, Linux or hell, even OpenBSD.
- bioskope, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1OpenBSD, yea right? Thats now what my dad taught me when growing up.
- known, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1Do we need $6 billion to make HTTPS seamlessly easy to use ?
- bioskope, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1OpenBSD, yea right? Thats now what my dad taught me when growing up.
- darkamster07, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1scifags went down due to bandwith limit overload, it had nothing to do with the OS
- Rhino2, on 01/31/2008, -15/+1haha, dude! They are running windows, they just spoof their HTTP return headers so it says linux. They do that to fool the haxors. Linux is teh unbreakable. Teh Linux has never been hacked! Not unlike your mom's ass.
- MindTrigger, on 01/31/2008, -0/+10The scary thing is, we have seen our civil liberties erode here in the US as a result of the war on terror. Imagine the horrors they will come up with for controlling/monitoring us on the internet with $6B.
- Shadow503, on 01/31/2008, -1/+2They'll probably just submit the terrorist web sites to Digg and watch as the servers go up in flames.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 01/31/2008, -0/+2LMAO I am so glad you didn't create that user name just to make that comment.
- noddyxoi, on 01/31/2008, -0/+4The one thing that they want to "protect" america from is from independent candidates, like Ron Paul to "hack" their corrupted, both faces of the same coin election system using the internet.
- principle, on 01/31/2008, -0/+3Yes, all Diggers are terrorists.
- iainc, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1Oh, get ***** George. The jig is up.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 01/30/2008, -0/+5Perhaps they can fight the "blog terror" on digg, so that they do not have to fight it over here.
- Emused, on 01/30/2008, -24/+3If the fanatics doesn't come to the fight ...
- CrackaPleeze, on 01/30/2008, -2/+17...a great example of why this money would be better spent on education...
- geekchic, on 01/30/2008, -3/+105I'd rather they spent the money on clamping down on spam - which affects vastly more people than terrorism will ever manage.
- cheeseron, on 01/30/2008, -1/+30or diabetes
- chase001, on 01/30/2008, -2/+33or lightning.
- wufoo, on 01/30/2008, -2/+42or herpes. or aids. or a billion other ***** worthy causes that the money would be better spent on.
- kjizzle, on 01/31/2008, -1/+7sounds like someone has herpes...
- yodaj007, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1I wonder if he eats thunder and craps lightning.
KA-CHOW KA-CHOW!
- yodaj007, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1I wonder if he eats thunder and craps lightning.
- kjizzle, on 01/31/2008, -1/+7sounds like someone has herpes...
- VitriolAndAngst, on 01/30/2008, -4/+10However, ending the spam will shut down the Republican financing from "Is your country's GDP too small? Grow it by 20% with this simple and inexpensive ointment" spam. It's been a banner year.
- siszam, on 01/31/2008, -4/+9How about health care for Americans.
- ordig, on 01/31/2008, -4/+4commie
/s - bioskope, on 01/31/2008, -1/+2Fill up the forms first and we'll see your eligible for 'healthcare'
- ordig, on 01/31/2008, -4/+4commie
- Samovar, on 01/31/2008, -1/+4Maybe they'll decided spam is terrorism. A couple of spammers packed off to Guantanamo ought to stem the tide.
- PeppermintPig, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7That money would be better spent if it weren't taxed in the first place.
All those old, ignorant politicians who think the terrorists are overtaking the tubes are not qualified to make decisions on this, which means they'll likely give Bush what he wants. Internet wars. Bleh. - tgc1, on 01/31/2008, -0/+5Or how about NOT increasing Americas debt load more than it already is? I don't know. Just makes sense you know? To me anyway.
This guy is like a gambling addict. "This one's going to be right" - blast_flame, on 01/31/2008, -0/+4Or how about just not taxing us for that 6 billion...
- Philluminati, on 01/30/2008, -1/+110"After 37,258 cyber attacks against government and private networks last year, President Bush and Department of Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff say they need $6 billion to stop attacks on Wall Street and nuclear power plants."
Here's a tip... all the Virus scanners, Network Analysers, Firewalls, Encrypted protocols or money in the world isn't going to stop "attacks". The number of attacks represent the value of the thing being attacked. It's better to be attacked 100,000 times unsuccessfully than to be attacked once successfully. My point is "attacks" are meaningless in asking for money. They should state the number of known security flaws or attacks which were successful - in order to justify the need for more money.- tmessing, on 01/30/2008, -19/+1I understand you're point but it just seems to be a case of semantics. Regardless of how you justify it, we need to invest in "cyber-security" just to keep pace with the Chinese.
- NoCt1, on 01/30/2008, -0/+6Isnt that why they hire infosec people. I mean the company i work for gets attacks also but thats why they hire us to keep that ***** save. hell. bush can give me 4 billion and ill take up post in an office somewhere. ***** not that expensive. well. some of it. When you get to the niksun's they get a little pricey. But serious and We do keep up with the chinese in security.
Anyone know how many Networks this is going to cover? and Who?- HalBSure, on 01/30/2008, -0/+9If you get that 4 billion, can I have a job?
I don't know anything about hacking or anti-hacking, which means I'm an ideal government employee. Also, I'm gonna need Monday off.- seand, on 01/30/2008, -0/+5Just one Monday? You are selling yourself short!
- rpgmaker, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1The last time I checked there was just one Monday in week.
- HalBSure, on 01/30/2008, -0/+9If you get that 4 billion, can I have a job?
- Erich100, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1Does it really take 6,000,000,000.00 dollars to protect against cyber attacks or is the 6,000,000,000.00 dollars enough to take over all internet traffic?More and more and more lies. When will we wake up?
- NoCt1, on 01/30/2008, -0/+6Isnt that why they hire infosec people. I mean the company i work for gets attacks also but thats why they hire us to keep that ***** save. hell. bush can give me 4 billion and ill take up post in an office somewhere. ***** not that expensive. well. some of it. When you get to the niksun's they get a little pricey. But serious and We do keep up with the chinese in security.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 01/30/2008, -2/+35Didn't we just see the "alleged" attempt on power plants from web hackers a few days ago.
Wow, what a coincidence that this bill was in the pipeline.
And nobody knows how to lay some pipe better than George Bush.- benplaut, on 01/31/2008, -1/+5Stop screwing with the language. Tubes, not pipes.
- NoCt1, on 01/30/2008, -1/+19FTA "The president would also like to install government sensors on private company networks."
Ha, Not going to happen. There is no way I would allow "censors" on a network that is owned by the gov. That is not our economy. That is not why we have business. We do not need the gov checking to see if Infosec is doing their job at their work. Plus in a mission critical/Prod environment can you say Choke point if they are wanting to have it go through their box. And Who will support this sensor. If i call up the gov and say your stuff is broken i expect it to be fixed in minutes not days. - Malevolant, on 01/30/2008, -1/+96 billion seems extremely excessive. FTA the details of his plan seems to be lacking, so until he ponies up what's involved, there should be no approval period. Too many hypotheticals at work here just to throw another 6 billion away. Shows us your cards or drop it. Pretty easy and the onus is on him.
- dacomputerfreak, on 01/31/2008, -0/+36 billion isn't too excessive considering that all those Microsoft licenses are pretty expensive these days! Our wonderful government loves to get it in the rear, lube optional. They'll probably waste it all on dumb useless ***** so computer competent criminals (I don't call criminals hackers, there's a difference in ethics) can laugh and crack at will just to prove how little can be done when our government goes on another shopping spree.
- dsmx, on 01/30/2008, -0/+3Justifying need for money? Never worked for a government agency then.
- TypeEE, on 01/30/2008, -1/+10it'll cost you 100x less if you just focus on securing your network. $6billion my ass
- dacomputerfreak, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7Agreed, furthermore it would be more effective to teach people how to use a computer, since there are an abundance of people in our own government who lack even basic understanding of good security. Too many employees get lost outside of the one or two programs that they have to use regularly (word processor, spreadsheet, specialized web app, etc.) and have never been properly trained on basic security, hell I doubt that there are very many who are given written guidelines on how they are expected to use a provided company/government computer. Those are the type to break security on a reasonably good network. I have seen it with my own eyes- sensitive and private local govt. records on a PC with no antivirus, no firewall, unsecured wifi... Teach people how not to be a dumbass, fix the obvious security holes and we'll all be better off!
- bennovw, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7Hey guys, I know an engineer who works in a nuclear power plant, and I have talked with him about the entire security issues floating around nuclear power stations. It turns out that nuclear power plants are completely isolated from the internet(not even a telephone cable hooked up on them), and run on a custom built OS specifically made for nuclear power stations.
It sounds to me that what is being said by Bush about Nuclear power plants is just a bunch of hot air, with no real underlying threat or truth(Just like all the rest of his stories). The rest of the things mentioned can be hacked however, but even then I'd have to totally agree with Philluminati about the number of attacks Philluminat VS actual security breaches. - caleb4mj, on 01/31/2008, -0/+5Bush Business Model:
1. Post some videos online as an Anonymous cyberterrorist
2. Tell Congress you have a new enemy, his name is Neo-something
3. ... ~$6 billion later ...
4. Profit!!!
- tmessing, on 01/30/2008, -19/+1I understand you're point but it just seems to be a case of semantics. Regardless of how you justify it, we need to invest in "cyber-security" just to keep pace with the Chinese.
- holycrapitsed, on 01/30/2008, -2/+143Or he could get Counterstrike.
Less expensive, but just as effective as his plan.- falkonv7l, on 01/30/2008, -5/+2did anyone else think of Command & Conquer for just a second.
- dfective, on 01/30/2008, -5/+1Chavaz says Diablo-
- Pilgrim, on 01/30/2008, -6/+5No, was thinking of the fps mod for half life.
- Giga, on 01/31/2008, -1/+0FPS mod for half life? I don't think the half life engine is well suited for an FPS...
/sarcasm- OrangeSoda31, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1Yeah... and there were never any popular mods for half-life. I mean, every now and then you will see someone playing - what was it? - ahhh yes, Counter Strike... But for the most part the community is sparse.
- Giga, on 01/31/2008, -1/+0FPS mod for half life? I don't think the half life engine is well suited for an FPS...
- dupswapdrop, on 01/30/2008, -4/+24I hear they don't let Bush anywhere near a computer let alone the Internet! Clueless is as clueless does!
- evanbooth, on 01/30/2008, -4/+1I see what you did there
- joshuaer, on 01/30/2008, -1/+7wait the interweb is on computers now!
- quarando, on 01/30/2008, -1/+10I believe it is pronounced Internets.
- dfective, on 01/30/2008, -1/+1He uses a handle which looks likes a porn spammers.
- Error601, on 01/30/2008, -20/+5Political ***** goes under politics. Repeat and remember.
- mydigga, on 01/30/2008, -1/+13Because the categories on Digg never intersect each other...
- voyvf, on 01/31/2008, -1/+3When the politics affect our technology, it seems quite appropriate to file it as "technology"; then again, maybe you don't give a damn about being able to post what you'd like on Digg. It will be a sad day when one posts a story, and sees the error message, "We're sorry, but the article you've submitted is not allowed, due to the 2008 Anti-Terrorism on America's Interwebs Act. Your IP address has been logged."
- Webjunkie, on 01/30/2008, -0/+9Will we be able to use IDDQD against Bush's Cyber-Freedom Force?
- h4mx0r, on 01/30/2008, -1/+3no, but you can use DNKROZ.
- verynegative, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1or IDKFA
- angusm, on 01/30/2008, -3/+89Six billion dollars, huh?
How much did it cost to carry out the September 11th attacks? A few hundred thousand dollars at most. How much have we spent since then on counter-terrorism, "homeland security", invading a couple of countries, defending against "cyber-terrorism" etc? Literally trillions of dollars. The total expenditure has been so huge that, combined with the subprime fiasco, the US economy is starting to show signs of heading for a spectacular collapse.
Even if someone FedEx's us Osama bin Laden's head in time for Valentine's Day, it's hard not to conclude that we have been comprehensively owned.- VitriolAndAngst, on 01/30/2008, -1/+7Well, from another perspective, $6 Million is less than what it takes to haul Bush and his entourage of 350 people and 22 dogs somewhere for a press op where he forgets the country he is visiting.
Oh, $6 Billion. Heck, I think that IS his travel budget --- never mind.- KingGorilla, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1Release the hounds
- norman619, on 01/30/2008, -3/+8Genius, it harder to defend from an unknown attack than it is to attack a known target knowing it's weaknesses and proper planning. How much does it cost a car thief to break into your car, bypass your security system, and drive off with your car? Next to nothing. How much did it cost YOU? The price of the alarm, your monthly insurance payments, and other costs from replacing your car.
- dsmx, on 01/30/2008, -0/+30Well technically Osama's plan has worked he has destroyed the USA. Freedom, liberty and justice for all is gone. The economy is destroyed and the armed forces are stuck in the middle east. At least the CIA will stop meddling in foreign affairs for a while now they have no military to back up there threats.
- bagelmaster, on 01/31/2008, -1/+4No, Bush did that.
- voyvf, on 01/31/2008, -1/+4Osama was a threat quite some time prior to Bush's election - ever since we armed them in the first place - so there's no need to worry about who's the chicken, and who's the egg.
Either way, the yolk's on us.
- voyvf, on 01/31/2008, -1/+4Osama was a threat quite some time prior to Bush's election - ever since we armed them in the first place - so there's no need to worry about who's the chicken, and who's the egg.
- bagelmaster, on 01/31/2008, -1/+4No, Bush did that.
- CTK14A, on 01/30/2008, -1/+17The Cold War ended not with nuclear war or World War III; it ended when the Soviet Union went bankrupt. Perhaps politicians are simply unable to learn from history.
- TypeEE, on 01/30/2008, -1/+5They know exactly, but their tactics are not focus on American's best interests but their pocket's interests.
- SoxSweepAgain, on 01/30/2008, -0/+5The problem is that our government is built around its war powers, particularly in an economic sense. The world needed weapons, we supplied them, and then conventional warfare became obsolete after nukes were developed. So, in order to keep the Raytheons and GE's and Boeings and all the other various "aerospace" weapons producers alive, we had to foment war wherever possible to protect our national economic interests. This evolved into "national security interests", hence the intense neocon interest in the oil countries. Oil wars support both of America's greatest corporate interests- the weapons to support the fight for the prize.
As prices go up, so will the intensity of the Energy War that replaces the Cold War. - jaytea90, on 01/31/2008, -0/+2Yes, but what your doing is comparing the the lives of people to the amount of money spent. Can you put an accurate figure on how much your head is worth?
- drew29, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1That would be context dependant. Your average joe-schmoe, not aware of your existance, prolly places a zero-dollar value on your head. Chemists would probably deem that your skull contains about $5 worth of biological matter and chemicals. Biologists would probably pay a few hundred dollars for your skull. The insurance company will pay as little as they possibly can. A bitter spouse would probably pay a quarter-million dollar pricetag for the other's head on a platter....
- gwayne919, on 01/31/2008, -1/+3Even if we never catch Osama or punish him for his terrorism, he has won the war against us. We live in fear, fear our government & each other & fear speaking out against "W", because he has long arms. You are correct in your assumption that Osama spent less than a million dollars to cause us to spend several trillion dollars before this damn thing is over. He got a bang for his investment & the US's reputation is crap around the world & we fear travelling outside the country. Keep this thought in mind when you analyze the govt.of the US, "stupid is as stupid does", thanks to our leaders who are well protected & the rest of us are expendable except for our money they need to steal our liberty to protect us. I hear Ron Paul is the best candidate for ending the drug war & gets my vote unless the electronic voting machine gives to someone else as I suspect it will. Remember who designed the software , has the keys to do with our votes as he is paid.Everyone has his or her price...
- VitriolAndAngst, on 01/30/2008, -1/+7Well, from another perspective, $6 Million is less than what it takes to haul Bush and his entourage of 350 people and 22 dogs somewhere for a press op where he forgets the country he is visiting.
- Etchii, on 01/30/2008, -1/+19Bush can not be allowed to put checkpoints in the "tubes"!!
- pinklimoncello, on 01/30/2008, -6/+0HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA WIN
- gilg, on 01/30/2008, -0/+56 billion....??! probably is going to re-invent Al's infra, same TCP/IP less terrorists. but hey, isn't 6 bill a bit too much for someone who is about to leave?
- VitriolAndAngst, on 01/30/2008, -0/+6The "al Qaeda" doesn't even use cell phones. So much for this idea.
- davidrools, on 01/31/2008, -0/+5$1 billion for each of the 6 internets
- sfacets, on 01/30/2008, -5/+50I wish we had 6B to fight Scientology.
- Chaoticfist, on 01/30/2008, -1/+13At least that would be a worthy cause...
- c130commnav, on 01/30/2008, -24/+1Wow, you made me login just to digg you down
- Malevolant, on 01/30/2008, -0/+20Tom?
- goomba323, on 01/30/2008, -5/+0Couldn't they just hire Anon to bring down the terrorist? If he can find secret scientology documents surely he can find Osama.
- bagelmaster, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1I think you mean "they" not "he"
- voyvf, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1I think he's been subsumed by the hivemind. Don't try to save him, it's already too late.
- bagelmaster, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1I think you mean "they" not "he"
- AndrewDB, on 01/30/2008, -1/+31Six billion.. MORE?! Christ where is all this money going?
- omenmedia, on 01/30/2008, -1/+43More importantly, where is all this money coming from?
- stklaw, on 01/30/2008, -0/+20Printing machines.
- AndrewDB, on 01/30/2008, -1/+3I was just going to reply my own post after I thought about it and say the exact same thing Omen..
- goomba323, on 01/30/2008, -1/+3Or China and other countries who will soon be the number 1 in the world. USA's century was last year, it's time to step aside. I'm not saying 3rd world, but most definitely closer to the falling Soviet Union.
- shig, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1Wouldn't that be something? "Made in China" on the front border. I'm making stamps to do this now.
- davidrools, on 01/31/2008, -3/+1dubai and abu dabi?
- noname500, on 01/30/2008, -3/+12More like where is it coming from...
- Plughie, on 01/30/2008, -3/+8Better question is, where is it coming from?
- rnwen2750, on 01/30/2008, -0/+12Into the pockets of some very "lucky" politicians.
- Kurono, on 01/30/2008, -0/+18Is there an echo here?
- CrackaPleeze, on 01/30/2008, -1/+13Yes, but where is it coming from?
- benplaut, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7Where is it going to?
- AndrewDB, on 01/30/2008, -1/+6an echo here?
- CrackaPleeze, on 01/30/2008, -1/+13Yes, but where is it coming from?
- OrangeSoda31, on 01/31/2008, -0/+2The money is well spent on $500 toilets and $1,000 hammers in Area 51 - trust me.

- bingobongony, on 01/30/2008, -2/+5Here's a hint...they don't.
- chase001, on 01/30/2008, -4/+16Bush will spend billions and billions as long as there is a way to funnel it to private companies or launder it to religious groups but suggesting we spend it on education, healthcare or our Nation's infrastructure is absurd.
- JuStein, on 01/30/2008, -3/+12Dugg for submitters description.
LOL. - omenmedia, on 01/30/2008, -4/+3Poor Anonymous. :(
- VitriolAndAngst, on 01/30/2008, -2/+22No money for mass transit. A REAL GI bill for our troops to go to college for free. Or medicaire for kids.
But there is plenty of money to pay for "bloggers to set the record straight" and to have my Service Provider tracking me down to my house and monitoring all my downloads for something to get me on, because I called Dick Cheney "the consigliere " - pinklimoncello, on 01/30/2008, -1/+15THE ANONYMOUS ARE FIGHTING THEM FOR **FREE**
or maybe he wants the 6 bill to give to scientology to fight the anon..hmmmm... - slapded, on 01/30/2008, -0/+18I hear theres Terrists on the Internets
- omenmedia, on 01/30/2008, -1/+1Both of them?
- TypeEE, on 01/30/2008, -0/+7There are also buried weapon of mass destruction in the internet.
- 1timeuser, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1We need to utilize our internets. They is the future.
- mandarin, on 01/30/2008, -3/+22No way dude. 6 billion is just going to the pockets of his cronies.
- SnuKs, on 01/30/2008, -7/+17I see a lot of homeless people that can use 6 billion...
- thallium205, on 01/30/2008, -9/+11Not with my money jackass
- EarlOfLade, on 01/30/2008, -3/+13Really?
But you have no problems wasting them on some ***** up sheik in Saudi Arabia or on Israel. God forbid the money was used on the people of USA, that would be wrong on so many levels, right? Much better to let corporations like Haliburtion and Blackwater get your money, right?
You, sir, is the biggest idiot I have seen today.
- goomba323, on 01/30/2008, -1/+8But you're alright with them using it to fight "terrorist" over the "internet". Sheesh. What next, tapping into our phones and snail-mail?!? Oh wait, nevermind. *sigh* America.
- blast_flame, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1I agree but at least it would be better than this.

- Mikhail101, on 01/30/2008, -2/+9man this is worse than the spam i get about some african king who needs to wire money out of the country with your help and will reward you with a certain amount after the job is done.
- dkern, on 01/30/2008, -2/+7Asking?
- CrazedLeper, on 01/30/2008, -5/+7There are no terrorists. It is a pretext to pursue downloaders and gain control of the internet. the PNAC report indicated that the internet is a front in the US MilitAry indusTRIal compleX's ongoing war on humanity.
- nitsnipe, on 01/30/2008, -2/+17THIS IS *****
- callinthelaw69, on 01/30/2008, -4/+47***** you Bush. The trillions you used in Iraq weren't enough? *****. You. *****.
- ninepointfive, on 01/30/2008, -1/+2you beat me to it, so I'll digg you up!
- LeopardGirl420, on 01/31/2008, -2/+1As much hate and animosity as the country seems to have for Bush ...it seems like everyone is too scared to actually outrage against his power, you'd think there would be deaththreats, attempted whitehouse invasions, assassination plots, etc etc. Less whining, moar action
- rezonq3, on 01/31/2008, -0/+2Because most good people don't think that way. That kind of thinking is reserved for the immoral asshats we have in the White House. The asshats that would do something like that that aren't in the White House, support them.
- Achilles2, on 01/31/2008, -1/+0Whoa, I sence a little hostility there. He's spent all kinds, what is 6 billion more.
He'll be gone next year.
- DiggsOnlyJew, on 01/30/2008, -6/+7"Here's a hint: Don't run a nuclear plant on Microsoft Windows."
The event he is referring to is because a machine didn't have a six month old security patch which is essentially an administrative issue, I guess if they were running *nix there would have been no problem because it has no vulnerabilities, right?- ZaZ2137, on 01/30/2008, -3/+4I find your sarcasm unwarranted.
- leexy, on 01/30/2008, -1/+2Ha! Check out the dude's screen name.
- ZaZ2137, on 01/30/2008, -3/+4I find your sarcasm unwarranted.

- ub3rgeek, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1Anonymous is not your personal army.
- Goobernutz, on 01/30/2008, -3/+10He should just give every citizen $20. Then in turn we can all promise not to do any terrorism on our computers.
- tgc1, on 01/31/2008, -1/+520 dollars that he gets from..... taxpayers? This makes sense how?
- blast_flame, on 01/31/2008, -1/+1Once it's passed though the government it would only be $10...
- borez, on 01/30/2008, -1/+5Clutching at straws Mr Bush, clutching at straws
- Daggity, on 01/30/2008, -0/+13Sir, I believe you mean nucular.

- CatScan29, on 01/30/2008, -2/+6Look, we mine as well just approve it, if we don't he's just gonna have Blackwater up their invoices by 6 billion and get it that way, or use it for some "Faith based initiative", or just have it printed for him.

- break99, on 01/30/2008, -1/+11"Here's a hint: Don't run a nuclear plant on Microsoft Windows"
I assume you don't know that the inventory of Soviet nuclear weapons in the USA is on a MS SQL Server database. (true BTW)- jellygraph, on 01/30/2008, -2/+6now thats scary... no wonder they keep losing track of them...
- AlienMushroom, on 02/21/2008, -0/+1Does that mean we can't play WoW or C&C or CS alike. any more?
- teamparadox, on 01/30/2008, -0/+20Here's a better hint. Dont connect a power plant to the internet period, it doesnt matter what OS it runs if someone wants in bad enough they will find a way in.
- chromerium, on 01/30/2008, -0/+6I CAN BE IN UR LOLARMY PLZ?
- jellygraph, on 01/30/2008, -0/+7in other news, bush tells congress they are giving him $100 trillion dollars to fight terrorists in the other dimension... the nth dimension.
- brokenpolitics, on 01/30/2008, -9/+3Please dont elect another Bush. Yes this includes the current top contenders for office: Obama, Clinton, McCain, Romney, Huckabee. Vote RON PAUL. TRUE CHANGE.
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Barack_Obama_Don ...- AndrewDB, on 01/30/2008, -3/+5You know, I advocate Ron Paul's unique standards and ideas as a presidential candidate, but all this Ron Paul spam makes me (and probably several others) less likely to vote for him because they're sick of hearing about him.
- sgiffy, on 01/30/2008, -2/+1Damn right! While I disagree with Paul on everything, even if I didn't his creepy followers would keep me away.
- rexblade, on 01/31/2008, -0/+2Thats a stupid thing to say considering the article its being commented on. Like you were considering voting for him. This is exactly the point of his campaign, or maybe you missed or ignored that. Why is it creepy to point that out?
- AndrewDB, on 01/30/2008, -3/+5You know, I advocate Ron Paul's unique standards and ideas as a presidential candidate, but all this Ron Paul spam makes me (and probably several others) less likely to vote for him because they're sick of hearing about him.
- dice4death, on 01/30/2008, -0/+9Money must be the only thing that doesn't clog the toilet, seeing as money is flushed so frequently and in such amounts.
- blate, on 01/30/2008, -0/+9Coming soon- the P47R107 Act
- Shakermaker, on 01/30/2008, -0/+27Hey Bush, here's a ***** idea - how about developing a neutral "pre-WW2" attitude, and take that trillions of dollars, pay off the National Debt and turn America into a great nation again?
- bagelmaster, on 01/31/2008, -0/+8But how does he profit from that? You have to think like Bush to understand Bush
- IAmLegend24, on 01/31/2008, -5/+3"how about developing a neutral "pre-WW2" attitude,"
That worked well pearl harbor.- eltolete, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1We knew well ahead that Pearl Harbor was coming and let it happen.
- sgiffy, on 01/30/2008, -0/+6At dog, some blinds, what 6 billion. ***** costs like 20 bucks.
- Brownds, on 01/30/2008, -0/+4So whats this mean are we going to settle the war on terror in COD4 or Halo 3 Death match? Oh I know lets have the War on Terror in WoW as long as the US can be Horde and Al Qaeda is Alliance. I'll enlist my Epic geared Orc Warrior! FOR THE HORDE!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously this dick bag is a joke.
- dice4death, on 01/30/2008, -1/+0Honestly, I believe the voters who elected him are the joke, per se; Bush himself is merely the punchline.
- Jareth86, on 01/30/2008, -2/+17Maher was right; Bush is desperately working to ***** something else up before he leaves office. He tried to ***** up social security, and failed. Then he tried to ***** up Iran and failed. Now he's after the internet.
- joeatuml, on 01/30/2008, -2/+5Nuclear power plants don't use networks connected to the internet, all internal networking. Plus they use technology from the 70's to control them with no computers and all solid state stuff.
- pizpot, on 01/31/2008, -0/+2and Homer too
- tgc1, on 01/31/2008, -0/+0Aren't they using ARPANET/DARPANET?
- tardpicard, on 01/31/2008, -0/+1"Plus they use technology from the 70's to control them with no computers and all solid state stuff."
