- LLSt, on 05/10/2008, -7/+72Bill Clinton is more than likely to end up in CCU (Coronary Care Unit) by the end of the week-end. He looked absolutely hung over and suffering from some sort of imbalance of his meds - Talk about needing health care. I hope they had a stretcher there, and a defillabrator. The lady was absolutely correct - Their health care plan was an utter failure.
- tcbishop12, on 05/10/2008, -5/+25You're right. He looks awful - and combative. As an alcoholic myself (recovering with 8 years of continuous sobriety) I recognize the physical and emotional signs.

- insllvn, on 05/10/2008, -4/+13It strikes me that Bill is getting desperate to see Hillary elected. I don't blame him. If I were married to that shrew, I wouldn't want to live with her after she lost what was supposed to be a done deal. Hell, if their marriage is the political arraignment it seems to be, than he has failed his end of the bargain, to get her elected.
- flashback99, on 05/10/2008, -2/+9Voter: Hillary didn't do ***** for healthcare.
Clinton: You are wrong! We released a document. Didn't you get the memo?

- jetboyterp, on 05/10/2008, -19/+4First off, this lady...and she's more than just an "audience member", she's an Obama supporter...is wrong about the Clinton's not doing anything about Health Care after the election. Doesn't anyone remember Hillary's "Health Care Express" bus tour around the country? Thank gawd they failed in trying to socialize medicine in this country.
I'm Republican, so I just LOVE watching the Dem's split up and attack each other. Both Obama and Clinton are typical Left-wing socialist liberals (Obama more so) neither of which has a chance of beating John McCain in November.- Wartyboskfapped, on 05/10/2008, -0/+14LOL you must be delusional. Enjoy the sideshow, cos that's all it is, the Dems will be fine. McCain hasn't got a hope in hell in November, even if the Dems field a hoover washing machine against him. 7 years of failed wars, cronyism, incompetence and vice from the GOP will ensure a Democratic victory. Face it, own it. This is reality.
(snicker) 'left wing socialist liberals'.. gee, I suppose they must be commies.. *****' retard, learn something about politics.- jetboyterp, on 05/10/2008, -10/+1Let's see...YOU suppose they "must be commies", and I'M the "f-ing retard" who needs to learn about politics? Check the mirror, buddy.
And no, it's not quite a sideshow, it's the main event. btw Since when does Hoover make washing machines? As for your little list, what a joke. - JaronDiggGuy, on 05/10/2008, -0/+5You still didn't actually refute anything though, did you jetboy?
- jetboyterp, on 05/10/2008, -4/+1How does one refute unsubstantiated claims? Failed wars...What wars have failed? (and don't say Iraq or Afghanistan...as long as we fight, we will win) incompetence? Gonna have to be a bit more specific. cronyism? Again...specifics. Vice? Where...
It's all Bush Derangement Syndrome. - krebcycle, on 05/10/2008, -0/+6"as long as we fight, we will win"

- jaymzdean, on 05/10/2008, -9/+82It's been reported that Bill is a big fan of Karl Rove and It's crystal clear at this point that he is using the Rovian tactic of painting his own narrative of history despite the facts not holding up to scrutiny.
I was a little shocked at the volume of the applause on Bill's behalf. When I heard that, I was presented with a vision of a mindless field of sheep, followed by the depressing reinforcement of my growing belief that a critical mass of Americans are morons.- ProfessorSYM, on 05/10/2008, -1/+12I got the creepy feeling that for the most part there is a caravan of "supporters" who travel with the Clintons to ignite applause at the right time. - fuhlavaflave, on 05/10/2008, -12/+6...the same mindless field of sheep you get to see at every Obama rally? Or any political rally for that matter?
Before I get dugg down into oblivion, let's all take a step back and be honest with ourselves for once. There's no fundamental difference between Obama and any other politician. Say what you want about how he "just feels right," "speaks for truth," is a "voice for change." *****. He wants power just as much as Hillary and McCain want power. What he's going to do with it is why he might (MIGHT) get my vote.
I'm just getting tired of these ignorant, knee-jerk posts to anything Hillary or McCain. Who are the real sheep, people? Stop repeating what the dumb poster above you said, and think for yourselves for once. Geez.- JMSantos, on 05/10/2008, -2/+1You're right, dissenting opinions are always wrong.
- hermes369, on 05/10/2008, -3/+3The lady was impolite, mistaken, and identified herself as an Obama supporter. I am an Obama supporter too; but, what she said was simply incorrect. I remember Hillary working on health care. It is correct that her efforts were mostly fruitless; but, it was her efforts that have placed healthcare as a major issue in this election. Give credit where its due, that's all.
- diggnitarial, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4Well, it was a Hillary rally, so y'know... They probably like Bill.

Angry voter : 0 - mok000, on 05/10/2008, -6/+27Clinton is right, the lady is wrong. Hillary _did_ work a long period for a health care reform, and the republicans demolished it. She has awesome political qualifications, but that doesn't mean she'll automatically make a better president.
She seems to be talking a lot about what she's done in the past, and not her vision of the future, and that's what's needed IMHO.
The Clintons have had their day. It's time to move on.- jsebrech, on 05/10/2008, -6/+4It's easy to blame the republicans for the failure of the clintons to get anything done healthcare-wise, but another way to view it is that the clintons are incapable of transcending party politics. Bush managed to get the whole congress in line many times, and the man is majorly incompetent. If hillary ever got elected, she wouldn't get anything done and blame it entirely on the republicans.
- dagamer34, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2Bush had control of the House and Senate for 6 years and still uses fear tactics to this day. See his reasons for telecom immunity on the FISA bull (which expired).
- magus_melchior, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Bush waves the "terrorism" stick, but he also told Congress and the SCOTUS that he'll selectively interpret every law that affects his power as military commander. That means he'll simply ignore the law as always and tell the NSA to continue as usual. This administration has no concept of law; to them it's just a formality.

- had3l, on 05/10/2008, -0/+9Thank you. I'm an Obama supporter, but finally someone non-biased with common sense on digg. Hillary has been using a lot of low tactics lately, but still, you can't deny that she indeed *did* have a conscience back in the day. Same with McCain. Isn't it weird that to be the president of the USA most people have to throw out their souls before?

- Srcc, on 05/10/2008, -1/+19It seems that President Clinton has it right and the lady has it wrong. I am not saying that Senator Clinton did enough health care lobbying to have some sort of magical experience that Senator Obama does not, but simply that Bill is right here. Judge for yourself with this awesome timeline PBS made: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/forum/may96/background ...
Also, the News Hour on PBS is BY FAR the best news show on tv. Investigation and facts, not sound bites and ratings.- krebcycle, on 05/10/2008, -1/+7Thanks for the info, it's nice to get information instead of juvenile hyperbole and showmanship.

- nerdvernacular, on 05/10/2008, -2/+17I think a lot of you are missing the point, the woman contested the fact that Hillary is making claims she IMPROVED health care during Bill's term in office. She may have tried, but she didn't. There was no movement towards universal health care during his time in office. Blaming Republicans doesn't change the fact that no progress was made in that arena, despite the fact that progress in that arena was promised ( I know, foolish of that woman to take a politician and his wife at their word ) And now, Hillary has taken exceptionally more money from the health care industry and its lobbyists than any other candidate. She's become a shill of the very institution she tried to fight in the early 90's.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an Obama supporter, but I don't worship him enough to think that this video is somehow a big shock. Bill has certainly acted like an ***** during the campaign, but I watched this clip and said, "that woman was being a little *****, and he really didn't act so inappropriately."
Let's all focus on the fact that she's a megalomaniac and refused to drop out, huh?
Oh, and let's have a bit more selectivity on the pro-Obama/antiClinton stories we present as earth shattering.
Digg's essential and awesome content diversity should be preserved. we all know how to find the huffingtonpost and msnbc. - soinie, on 05/10/2008, -5/+11Bill Clinton should stick to what he does best; seducing fat unattractive political whores.
- partrow, on 05/10/2008, -5/+1Temper, temper, little Bubba.
- SMFB, on 05/10/2008, -5/+1i like how 80% of people at the rally were middle aged women and the other 20 were fat bald men......... srsly watch it again, they all look like very informed voters
- poopdigger, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2I bet they don't say "srsly"
- kainan32, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2What's an informed voter supposed to look like?
- sleepbox, on 05/10/2008, -5/+6Can any hipstercrat please make sense of the hatred of Bill Clinton? He's been one of the most successful Democratic presidents ever yet every where I look there's nothing but hatred for him now, as though all he accomplished for the democrat cause have been forgotten.
I find it absolutely absurd that the new face of the democratic party would rather worship the failure peanut farmer otherwise known as Jimmy Carter but throw slick willy under the bus.
All that white guilt must be eating you up inside.- ArielMT, on 05/10/2008, -1/+2All right, I'll bite. You seem fairly well stirred and confused, so I'll take your points one at a time.
What Clinton has accomplished for the Democrat cause is shown that, if the Kool-Aid is spiked with just the perfect amount of brandy, one can get away with saying and doing anything, including calling language itself into believable doubt. As for being one of the most successful Democrat presidents ever, Slick Willy will be remembered alongside Tricky Dick, a Republican, as an embarrassment to our nation's history, rather than alongside the truly great Democrat presidents of the last century, Roosevelt and Kennedy.
It's worth noting that if Roosevelt or Kennedy were still alive today and running for office, they would be today labeled as too conservative even for the Republicans.
All you have to do to find an explanation for all the hatred of Slick Willy is to read what he's written, listen to what he's said, pay attention to what he's done, and balance that with actual history. Clinton has left a permanent stain (no pun intended) on the Office of the President and damaged the reputation of the United States Government worse than it was before he took office. His wife would not do as good a job repairing that reputation as his successor has done, and any Bush-basher can tell you all you want to know about how good a job that was.
And finally, regarding your comment of "white guilt," just how racist must you be in your own heart to for you to see racism where none exists? Embracing that does more destruction to Dr. King's dream (a dream I share, by the way) than any ten hate groups combined could hope for.
We're supposed to be voting for people based on *who* they are, not *what* they are, because that's what truly matters.- rikaplan, on 05/11/2008, -0/+2First of all, let me say that my respect for Bill Clinton has been diminishing as Hillary's campaign pushes on (Due in large part to the comments you've mentioned, and his overall lack of grace). I'm also an Obama supporter, and think Hillary is out of her mind.
With that out of the way, I have to disagree with much of what you said about Bill.
First of all, with regard to damaging the reputation of the US: http://pewglobal.org/reports/display.php?ReportID= ...
You'll see international opinion of the US when Clinton left office was quite high, and if you do some research, you'll see that the Lewinsky scandal was not taken NEARLY as seriously by the rest of the world as you're portraying it.
He left the country with better stats in almost every category. You can find those figures easily. There was actually a digg post with a spreadsheet, but I'm not going to bother to find it.
Remembered alongside Nixon? Clinton left office with an approval rating ~60%. JFK had a 58% approval when he was assassinated. Ike had a 60% rating when he left office. Nixon: ~25%.
It seems that Clinton did more damage to you than pretty much everyone else in the world.
In terms of voting for "who" someone is? That's not sufficient for me, and it shouldn't be for you. I'm not voting for Obama because I think he's a dandy guy. I'm voting for him because I think he's a cohesive force and, more importantly, I support his policies.
Carter is a great guy. Horrible president. From what I know about LBJ, he was a good guy, but his poor judgment cost tens of thousands of lives. Truman was supposed to be a good guy, but did he have to drop that second one? And W is probably cool to hang out with, but he's the worst president we've ever had.
Clinton's blowjob didn't harm US approval around the world as you're presenting. Nor is that notion reflected in his domestic approval.
It's what he's doing now that's ***** up his reputation with people who supported him before (like me).- ArielMT, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1Interesting points you raise, and I won't try to confirm or refute those numbers. I concede disagreement, which you're free to interpret as defeat. I dugg you up.
For example, I disagree with the claim that Clinton left the nation in better shape than either of his two predecessors did, and I cite as examples his actions concerning Haiti (in which we reinstalled an autocrat who was president in name only), the events before and after the USS Cole bombing (including no satisfactory answer as to why she made port at Yemen to begin with), the signing of the DMCA into law, and the signing of the largest tax increase in the nation's history.
I'm all for open relationships, and him getting his pole smoked in office isn't what I have a problem with. He lied about it under oath, was caught lying, and wasn't given so much as a slap on the wrist for it, showing that until we collectively come to our senses a president can lie about anything and get away with it. Clinton made Bush's ability to do exactly that so much the easier.
As for my remark that we should be voting for who the candidates are, I was referring to the famous quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln, "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power," and that we should be examining their character before casting our votes. As you correctly point out, there have been lots of really nice guys who have failed as leaders, but they failed because they didn't have compatible character despite their niceness or the nobility of their intentions.
You cite G.W. Bush as an example of that, and rightly so. He has somehow managed to displace Warren Harding as the worst president in history, despite being a nice guy. The top results of the Google search http://www.google.com/search?q=bush+the+worst+pres ... seem to only confirm it. He also long ago displaced James Polk as the most war-mongering president (whom then-Congressman Honest Abe warned against empowering even if it was two years into Polk's war), again despite Bush seeming like a nice guy with just causes.
What Bill Clinton's doing now is anything but helping him or Hillary; in that we are in complete agreement.
