- Jektal, on 05/20/2008, -4/+2Looks cool, but really laggy for me. Sticking with Pandora for now.
- bat-21, on 05/20/2008, -0/+2It's called the Digg effect. It's usually a lot smother.
- MixMastaKooz, on 05/20/2008, -1/+5I'm a huge fan of thesixtyone.com. I've found some great music and supported some small artists. I also like how they give, what can best be termed as, "Experience Points." It's like an RPG for music (I'm almost up to level 7!). Friend me or listen to my stream (I'm still mixmastakooz there).
- oxygen911, on 05/20/2008, -0/+10You sound like a college chick who just discovered Jack Johnson

- frieddonuts, on 05/20/2008, -13/+27Music is my hot, hot sex.
- Danalog, on 05/20/2008, -3/+34TheSixtyOne has gotten back my interest in publishing my own music and getting (forcing?) other people to listen to it!
- pokedex, on 05/20/2008, -2/+9I love the idea of "cooking for engineers" -- perfect combo with the cats for engineers video ...I oddly wish that the site looked like a terminal window. :)
- bluntphallus, on 05/20/2008, -1/+2Dugg for being a girl and liking the terminal window.
- yanivbl, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1I totally agree.

- viaoman, on 05/20/2008, -4/+2http://www.peerpapers.com saved me from writing papers in college.
- GlennCase, on 05/20/2008, -24/+34thesixtyone is similar to what Digg would be like if it centered around music. I love that the music isn't interrupted as you go from page to page. I'm addicted to the site as a listener, and as an artist.
ROCK!
Glenn Case- yapper1200, on 05/20/2008, -0/+14The difference between Digg and thesixtyone is the point system, it makes sure that you only invest your points in songs you actually like so that they will do well. On Digg you can just digg as many things as you want. You don't even have to read them. On thesixtyone you have to listen to the song first.
- dynelol, on 05/20/2008, -8/+80Stop signing your *****. We see your username. You just look arrogant and stupid.
- Namingway, on 05/20/2008, -2/+11bumped your comment, because you reminded me that this clown was just self promoting
- dynelol, on 05/20/2008, -2/+2Dugg for a GREAT username.
- GlennCase, on 05/20/2008, -3/+23Point taken.
My initial comment comes across as self serving, and that wasn't my intent. I was attempting to express that thesixtyone is an incredibly valuable website for artists and listeners alike. I have been exposed to a lot of great music there, and a good amount of people have given my material a chance too.
I'm not nearly as arrogant as you think I am, but I'll concede to 'stupid'. Sometimes I post before I think.- timyjl, on 05/20/2008, -0/+5A crime many commit on digg.
- ggallin08, on 05/20/2008, -6/+0That is certainly the most arrogant and stupid thing I've heard all day.
- bluntphallus, on 05/20/2008, -3/+1What's the problem with signing your post?
Also, *****.

- Namingway, on 05/20/2008, -2/+11bumped your comment, because you reminded me that this clown was just self promoting
- Namingway, on 05/20/2008, -2/+5buried your comment for shameless self promotion. no one cares :P
- CA55IDY, on 05/20/2008, -1/+15Hang on, ur THEEE Glenn Case?
- zhephree, on 05/20/2008, -1/+1Glenn does good stuff.
Loved the Grammar Club project - Parkinsons, on 05/20/2008, -1/+1I don't like the point system since it encourages you to invest in music you think will become popular, not music you like.
- ComNes, on 05/20/2008, -4/+33I've found so much good music on The Sixty One, and it lets you download most of the tracks for free to boot!
- trogdorBURN, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1sorry, i am literally a noob at thesixtyone...joined like 2 minutes ago...how do you d/l the music for free?
- dareiff, on 05/20/2008, -4/+8hulu wins, mint second, and sixtyone third. hadn't heard of (many) of the others.
- pokedex, on 05/20/2008, -1/+10yeah, hulu is pretty cool, but i've been using it for months now. =) just wish there were more office episodes!
as for mint, i'm not too keen on giving a startup my financial data. call me old fashioned.- EdwardsNH, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1Agreed, Agree (just watched all four seasons in the last two months), and damn straight!
Joined mint then immediately thought "What the Hell did I just do?!"
- EdwardsNH, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1Agreed, Agree (just watched all four seasons in the last two months), and damn straight!

- jclassracer, on 05/20/2008, -10/+5i quite enjoy this website.
as an artist,
this website has been the best thing that has ever happened to my music!!
thesixtyone.com/jclassracer- quiznos, on 05/20/2008, -1/+2I discovered your song 'at least'
- jclassracer, on 05/20/2008, -2/+1thanks quiznos. hopefully you got some rad bump points on it. now who will revive one of my songs?
- Gravey9, on 05/20/2008, -3/+8The sixty one is the gate way to some of the best music around.
- HockeyMaster195, on 05/20/2008, -5/+2Kitteh Face for the Sixty One, the best place to find excellent and unique music on the web.
:3 - CCoe, on 05/20/2008, -3/+6Love the 61!
- pat0neill, on 05/20/2008, -10/+2oh hai list
- ledguitar, on 05/20/2008, -4/+5Thesixtyone is a great way to find music. Site is well built, lots of songs to listen to, and a setup similar to Digg in which users "bump" up their favorite music.
- frieddonuts, on 05/20/2008, -1/+22I'm sorry but I don't think any site can possibly improve the cooking abilities of engineers :)
- MrSkills, on 05/20/2008, -3/+2thesixtyone is the best music discovery site on the web, bar none. They have found a really novel way to filter the bewildering amount of new music there is on the web. Great stuff.
- Sammiboi, on 05/20/2008, -3/+2Cool sites.
- eminiguy, on 05/20/2008, -12/+4Hulu? Yahoo gives you the same thing, so what's the big deal?
Mint? The best way yet to compromise your financial information really fast.
Come on, you people are so easily impressed by just about anything.
Next!- pokedex, on 05/20/2008, -0/+8wrong about hulu, but i do sort of agree on mint. i do, however, find it hilarious how you bitch about these sites when your own personal site on your profile sucks righteous balls.
- jimmick, on 05/20/2008, -10/+2Since when was advertising news
(Regardless of the coolness) - luke16, on 05/20/2008, -3/+69Hulu = Awesome, now i can watch family guy whenever i want plus some other shows that might take my interest!!!

- Baku, on 05/20/2008, -1/+1If you're outside the US, and wanna use a site like Hulu... google for a service called "Anchor Free"... works a treat for me. :)
- TomTruelle, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1what, like a proxy sever?
- acidacid, on 05/21/2008, -0/+0Which Anchor Free program do you use? I went to download it so i could use Hulu and there seems to be quite a few different ones...please help!
- dynelol, on 05/20/2008, -12/+35AMERICA! ***** YEAH!
- ChickenNugNug, on 05/20/2008, -2/+30Bah, I wish Hulu was available in the UK.
- Pecnut, on 05/20/2008, -0/+7Try "Hotspot Shield" - it's an app which basically 'changes' your IP to an American one. I don't know if it works on anything other than Windows.
- had3l, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1Actually, it makes it impossible to detect where your IP is from. So it assumes you are not outside the US. Either way, very nice find, I'm testing it right now. I wonder if there is a program that does it better than Hotspot Shield. (If it works, I can use Pandora again and watch fast South Park episodes, yay!)
- had3l, on 05/20/2008, -1/+1Yeah, I can't connect. GG
- ShrimpCrackers, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1You're doing it wrong. I connected from Asia, just fine.

- xTRUMANx, on 05/20/2008, -4/+3Most arbitrary top ten list ever? Perhaps a different title like "10 Sites you've probably never heard of" or anything else to narrow down the scope.

- anatraj, on 05/20/2008, -0/+2I don't know what the Hype Machine is, but thesixtyone.com is pretty badass. It's like digg for individual songs (streaming) submitted by users. I'm hooked.

10 Cool Websites We Recommend
Thesixtyone makes music discovery fun again. You’ll like it because it’s like a safari for music junkies. Get rewarded for discovering new music and having discerning tastes. Don’t blame us if you stay up late looking for that one track that helps you level up. Oh yeah, they also have of one the best UI experiences of all the music sites we’ve been too.
Want to find out if you’re paying too much for that swanky little bachelor pad of yours? Check out Rentometer. It’s a nifty little tool that will tell you if you’ve got a steal of a deal or if you should probably renegotiate with your landlord. Luckily we live in a 10-bedroom mansion and don’t have to worry about any of that!
If it’s true that women love guys that can cook, then CookingforEngineers is a site you should visit. This site is awesome because it serves up recipes in a way that guys understand. It’s hard to explain, but you just have to trust us on this one. This is a must visit for every guy who likes or wants to cook.
If you’re looking for a great drink recipe or have one to share then ExtraTasty is your go-to site. You can create your own “My Bar” by entering all of the ingredients, mixers and garnishes you have at home and then let ExtraTasty tell you all the possible recipes you can make—cool. It also offers you the ability to submit your own drink recipes to the site and lets others rate your concoctions.
Hulu is a free online video service that offers viewers instant access to hit TV shows, movies and clips. Many sites have tried to accomplish the same feat, but it seems like Hulu is actually making it happen. Look out your window and tell me if you see the pigs flying too.
We are a big fan of saving money here at Ploomy and an even bigger fan of Mint. Mint allows you to take total control of your finances 24/7. It links all of your bank and credit card accounts and downloads the information for you every night. It serves up your transactions in a detailed, but non-confusing way. The catch: It offers tips on ways you can save money by signing up for other services. It’s a small price to pay if you ask me.
If CNN or Google News gets boring sometimes and you want something with more local flavor, then check out Topix. You can get news in virtually any city or town in the U.S. Topix links news from 50,000 sources to thousands of forums. If you’re looking for a new way to follow the news, this site should be added to your daily habits.
If you are one of the 500 million worldwide who access the Internet at a cybercafe, then Jooce might be for you. Think of Jooce as a cool platform which allows you to bring your entire digital life with you wherever you go on whatever computer you use. Keep the flash drives at home and stop lugging the laptop around because Jooce is all you need. The best part is that you can instantly share all your videos, pictures, and songs with friends.
We like Jumpcut because it allows you to upload, share and remix your videos in a cool way. The tools are feature-rich, intuitive, and so easy to use. We especially like how you can remix videos. From uploading to publishing to friends, Jumpcut makes online video easy.
If you’re looking for a new job or just want to see what’s currently out there, check out Indeed. This job search engine includes postings from many of the major job listing sites and newspapers. It gives you free instant access to millions of job opportunities. This is a cool site indeed.

- ph1sh55, on 05/20/2008, -0/+2Come on your name is FishHammer not SheepHammer. Why don't you look at the site and their recommendations and evaluate for yourself. Judge things by their own individual merit and you'll make informed decisions, even if they aren't the most popular.
- cpugoddess, on 05/20/2008, -7/+1The realm of books never feel the love in "cool website" reviews. Check out http://www.dailyreader.net for some really cool and useful tech or http://www.librarything.com for some all around goodness.
